Shrine of St. Anne Catholic Church

Built in 1922 by a 50 member parish and has been a Catholic church since its inception. In 1924, the Ku Klux Klan marched to St. Anne's and burned a cross on the church property. The Klan attempted to deal with the influx of immigrants while wearing white robes with hoods to stay unidentified. The 1924 Arvada High School yearbook contains an ad meant for the purpose of recruiting high school graduates to the Klan. They were known to march regularly down Grandview and had installed a flagpole in the middle of Grandview at one time. They held their meeting on the hill at about 68th and Carr St. In retaliation to the St. Anne's incident, 10,000 Catholics marched from Regis University to Arvada.
