Built in 1933, Ralph Ashton housed his automobile dealership here, which he started across the street at 5757 Wadsworth. Ashton was an inventor, businessman and civic leader who served on the Town Board and the Chamber of Commerce. Financing for the building was provided by Charles and Elsie Meyers of Silverton, CO in $2,500 worth of gold coins. It is now referred to as the Gold Coin Building for that reason. The building continued to be used by automobile dealerships until it was converted to retail and service establishments in the 1950s. Twentieth Century Commercial with moderate alterations.
